About

'Another Way of Looking'
HELEN THOMSON is an artist member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists (GSWA http://www.gswa.org.uk/) and the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA http://www.s-s-a.org/). Her specialist subject is photography. She has been learning her craft in landscape with master photographers. Two of her images are used by Ordnance Survey for covers on their latest edition of Explorer Maps. Helen's rainbow image of Hirta features on the cover of the official St Kilda calendar for 2019. Recent exhibitions were with the GSWA in the Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie, the MacLaurin Gallery in Ayr and with the SSA in the Scottish National Galleries in the RSA Building, Edinburgh.

Always looking for new ways of perceiving the world and adding meaningful value to the classic landscape, Helen’s photography has evolved to include ‘alternative image’ styles including ICM (blurs) and ‘multiple exposures’. She has been developing a new technique of hand finishing suitable prints with highlights in genuine 24 carat gold and sterling silver.

Her images are printed onto the best quality archival paper which last for around 40 years in daylight and 200 years stored in the dark. The texture and finish of the papers are specially selected to reflect the subjects.
